چکیده
South African discard coal fines and K2CO3 blends were heated in a laboratory-scale rotary kiln to produce ashes for H2SO4 leaching tests. The optimized conditions of 6.12 mol.dm3 (M) H2SO4, solid liquid ratios 1:5 1:10, 8o°C 8 hours used. was added increase the dissolution efficiency K. objective determine if Al present metakaolinite (Al2O3.2SiO2), Al, K, Ti alumino-silicate glasses, rutile (TiO2) could be selectively dissolved H2SO4. XRF results show that formed at 700°C more efficiently (87% 89% K 23% Ti) compared 1050°C. This can attributed presence Al2O3.2SiO2, melt, remnants, KAl(SO4)2, K-aluminosilicate glass these ashes. XRD indicate prepared 1050°C contained anorthite (CaAl^Og), microcline (KAlSi3O8), pseudomullite (Al2.SiO2), silicon spinel (2Al2O3.3SiO2), which are either insoluble or only sparingly soluble These minerals resulted lower efficiencies Based on high produced 700°C, blended with possibly utilized as feedstocks production aluminium(III), potassium(I), titanium(IV) sulphate-containing leach liquor. Furthermore, environmental issues costs associated handling disposal large volumes will also resolved.

Decolourization of Melanoidin Containing Wastewater Using South African Coal Fly Ash
Batch adsorption of recalcitrant melanoidin using the abundantly available coal fly ash was carried out. It had low specific surface area (SBET) of 1.7287 m2/g and pore volume of 0.002245 cm3/g while qualitative evaluation of the predominant phases in it was done by XRD analysis. Colour removal efficiency was found to be dependent on various factors studied. Maximum colour removal was achieved ...

متن کاملDistributional Fate of Elements during the Synthesis of Zeolites from South African Coal Fly Ash
The synthesis of zeolites from South African coal fly ash has been deemed a viable solution to the growing economical strain caused by the disposal of ash in the country. Two synthesis routes have been studied thus far namely the 2-step method and the fusion assisted process. Fly ash contains several elements originating from coal which is incorporated in the ash during combustion. It is vital ...
متن کاملWaste Minimization Protocols for the Process of Synthesizing Zeolites from South African Coal Fly Ash
Production of a high value zeolite from fly ash has been shown to be an avenue for the utilization of South African fly ash which presently constitutes a huge disposal problem. The synthesis of zeolites Na-P1 and analcime on a micro-scale has been successful and preliminary investigation shows that scale-up synthesis is promising. However, the post-synthesis supernatant waste generated contains...
متن کاملDirect synthesis of carbon nanofibers from South African coal fly ash
Carbon nanofibers (CNFs), cylindrical nanostructures containing graphene, were synthesized directly from South African fly ash (a waste product formed during the combustion of coal). The CNFs (as well as other carbonaceous materials like carbon nanotubes (CNTs)) were produced by the catalytic chemical vapour deposition method (CCVD) in the presence of acetylene gas at temperatures ranging from ...
